Have you ever heard of brands such as Acer, Asus, Computex, CyberLink and HTC? These brands are some of the world’s leaders in laptop production and technology, they also have a common denominator, they are Taiwanese.

Taiwan produces a big percentage of the world’s technology industry and innovation, so much that Amazon opened its latest innovation center in Taipei, inspiring product designers and manufacturers to go to the island in seek of efficiency and high-quality production. The technology industry is so big in Taiwan that in 1992 the Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs created the Taiwan Excellence Award, to honor and recognize innovation and value among Taiwanese products, recognizing exceptional product performance following the areas of design, quality, marketing and more.

This year at the CES 2019, world’s biggest technology show, Taiwanese companiesstood outthrough a combined effort with the Taiwan Excellence, among more than 4,400 exhibiting companies including manufacturers, developers and suppliers of technology hardware, content, technology delivery systems and more. The Taiwanese pavilion was recognized as best new innovations in information and communications technologies, with the latest advancements in smart transportation, smart home, smart healthcare, and gaming.

As politics and international trade play a huge part in the technology industry, companies and industry leaders have expressed concern this year about President Donald Trump’s tariffs potentially hurting the technology trade. Tariffs are to go up to 25 percent this year and unfortunately, it will have a big negative impact in the industry, especially for technology companies outside the US. TVs, smart devices, and some Bluetooth devices are an exception for this duty, but there are tariffs on a wide variety of printed circuit boards, modems, routers, and switches. Small companies have the risk of getting out of business due to the tariffs increase.

So, whether you’re in Taiwan or anywhere else in the world, Taiwanese representatives are always looking for smart and technological companies that seek partnerships and alliances to strengthengrowth opportunities.
